Notes: This station featured
Christian oriented programming for years until the late 90s when Citadel Broadcasting
(then-Caribou Broadcasting) bought the station and flipped it to sports/talk
after acquiring both Sports Talk 1340 (a time-brokered operation on Clear
Channel's KEBC-AM 1340) and SportsRadio 640 (WWLS-AM 640).
This station flipped
to country April 11, 2002 at 6 a.m. The sports format formerly on this frequency
moved to 105.3. The country format moved to 96.9 FM at 3 p.m. on Christmas
Day of 2002, the part-time modern rock format on 105.3 (The Spy) was simulcasted
on 104.9 and other Citadel stations to help build awareness. At midnight on
December 26, 2002, The Sports Animal returned to 104.9 FM after an eight month
absence.
In October 2006, Citadel swapped the sports format with
CHR/Rhythmic sister Wild 97-Dot-9, sending the FM simulcast partner to 97.9.
